Bisanje Moslem Primary School, located in the rural Bisanje Village of Masaka District, is a key institution for educating the children of the local community. Despite its importance, the school grapples with several issues that are common in rural Ugandan schools, particularly when it comes to healthcare and hygiene. Intestinal worms and poor menstrual hygiene management are major problems, with a lack of resources exacerbating these challenges. Students frequently miss school due to health-related issues, and girls are particularly affected by a lack of affordable menstrual products, leading to absenteeism.
The forthcoming Deworming Project will provide much-needed treatments to the children at Bisanje Moslem Primary School, addressing intestinal worm infections and boosting their overall health and ability to learn. Simultaneously, the MACFO Pads Project will equip schoolgirls with reusable sanitary pads and deliver education on menstrual hygiene, allowing them to manage their periods with dignity. This intervention is expected to greatly reduce absenteeism, improve academic performance, and foster a supportive environment where all students can thrive. By addressing both health and hygiene, we are not only improving the well-being of students but also laying the groundwork for a brighter future for the entire community.
