In Kiwala Village, Masaka, access to clean water has long posed a serious challenge, with residents often forced to rely on unsafe sources. Recognizing this critical need, the Macfo Foundation, in partnership with the Hannover 96 Fan Club and the Global Nature Fund (GNF), has successfully installed a new borehole to serve St. Lawrence Kkindu Primary School and the surrounding community. This project brings clean, reliable water to the village, directly benefiting students, households, and community health—a major step forward in local development.
Objectives and Impact in Kiwala:
- Enhanced Community Health: The new borehole provides safe drinking water, helping to reduce waterborne illnesses and promoting better hygiene practices within the community.
- Increased School Attendance: With clean water now readily accessible, students at St. Lawrence Kkindu Primary School, especially girls, can focus on their studies without the added burden of traveling long distances to collect water.
- Building Resilience: The borehole empowers Kiwala’s community, establishing a foundation for improved living standards and long-term well-being. Plans for a hospital to be built at St. Lawrence Kkindu Primary School will further enhance health support for the village, addressing the community’s growing healthcare needs.
