In Kabwami Village, Masaka, access to clean drinking water has been a longstanding challenge, with local residents and schoolchildren relying on distant, often unsafe sources. Addressing this urgent need, the Macfo Foundation, in partnership with the Hannover 96 Fan Club and the Global Nature Fund (GNF), has successfully installed a borehole in Kabwami, a transformative step toward achieving water security for the village.
Objectives and Impact in Kabwami:
- Improved Health and Sanitation: The new borehole provides safe, clean water, which helps reduce cases of waterborne diseases and fosters better hygiene practices, improving overall health within the community.
- Support for Education: With water now readily available at St. John’s Kabwami R/C Primary School, students spend less time fetching water and more time focused on their education, enhancing school attendance and learning outcomes.
- Empowering the Community: The borehole installation is a symbol of growth and resilience for Kabwami, providing a reliable water source that strengthens the community’s foundation for a healthier, more sustainable future. Plans for a hospital located at St. John’s Kabwami R/C Primary School further reinforce the commitment to improving health resources in the village.
