On November 1, 2024, a transformative project reached completion in Kitanga Village, a community that had long struggled with limited access to clean water. Previously, women and children in Kitanga were forced to walk an arduous 7 to 10 kilometers daily to fetch water, often compromising children’s education and the overall well-being of families.
The newly installed borehole marks a significant milestone for the 955 residents of Kitanga Village, including 455 school children and 500 community members. By bringing clean water closer to home, this project alleviates the heavy burden on women and children, allowing them to focus on education, work, and community development.
This initiative was made possible through the invaluable support of Bambisana – Eine Helfende Hand and DRK OV Dreis-Tiefenbach e.V. Their generosity and commitment to improving lives have ensured that Kitanga Village now has access to a sustainable water source.
Key Benefits of the Borehole Project:
- Improved Education: With access to water nearby, children can now attend school consistently without interruptions caused by long trips to distant water sources.
- Enhanced Quality of Life: Women have more time for productive activities, such as farming or entrepreneurship, further empowering the community.

This project, championed by MACFO Uganda, aligns with the foundation’s mission to improve living conditions through sustainable solutions. As CEO Matovu Timothy remarked, “Together, we are changing lives and building brighter futures. This borehole is not just a source of water—it’s a source of hope.”
MACFO Uganda hopes to replicate similar projects in other communities across Uganda, continuing to make a meaningful impact in areas where basic needs like clean water remain unmet.
