Macfo Foundation Brings Clean Water to Kabwami and Kiwala Villages through New Borehole Project

Kabwami Village, Uganda — In a significant step towards enhancing the quality of life in rural Uganda, Macfo Foundation has launched a borehole project providing clean and accessible water to Kabwami and Kiwala villages. Supported by the fan club of Bundesliga soccer team Hannover 96 and Global Nature Fund (GNF), this initiative marks a new chapter for these communities, where water scarcity has long impacted health and education.

Addressing a Vital Need in Rural Uganda

In many rural parts of Uganda, reliable access to safe drinking water remains a challenge, with residents often relying on unsafe or distant sources. For schoolchildren and their families, the journey to fetch water could mean long hours and potential exposure to waterborne diseases. The Macfo Foundation’s latest project tackles this issue head-on by installing two boreholes, one in Kabwami village and another in Kiwala village, bringing clean water closer to where it’s most needed.

Impact on Kabwami and Kiwala Communities

The borehole installations at schools in Kabwami and Kiwala are transforming daily life:

  • Health Benefits: By providing safe drinking water, the boreholes are reducing the risk of waterborne illnesses, significantly impacting the health and well-being of children and residents.
  • Supporting Education: With water available on school grounds, students can now attend classes regularly and focus on their studies without the added burden of long water-fetching trips.
  • Community Empowerment: Beyond health and education, the project fosters resilience and self-sufficiency in these communities, empowering residents with a vital resource.

Gratitude to Our Supporters

This project was made possible by the generous support of:

  • The Hannover 96 Fan Club – Through their initiative, “Drinking Cups for Drinking Water,” they have demonstrated the power of collective action in transforming lives.
  • Global Nature Fund (GNF) – A steadfast partner in sustainable development, GNF’s involvement has been pivotal in ensuring access to clean water for these communities.

“We are incredibly grateful to our donors for their commitment to this project. Together, we are making a tangible difference in the lives of children and families in Kabwami and Kiwala,” said Matovu Timothy, CEO of MACFO Uganda.

This initiative reflects MACFO Uganda’s mission to improve living conditions through sustainable solutions. The foundation envisions replicating similar projects to bring hope and clean water to other communities in need across Uganda.
